The Kite Runner

The Kite Runner is about a boy name Amir he is a Pashtun very rich and intelligent he is also a writer. He is friends with Hassan who is a Hazara, he is poor and doesn't know how to read or write he has a cleft lip and his mom left the dad when he was small .He is the son of Amirs dad's servant Ali. Amir is a boy who grows up with out the love of his dad and the blame of him killing his mom when she gave birth to him. Through out his life he grew up wit Hassan but most of the time he felt jealous of him because his dad always admire Hassan for being brave and never giving up. Later on after Amir won the tournament Hassan gets raped by Assef a bully, also a Pashtun, Amir watched everything and didn't do anything. After, Amir feels really guilty and decides not to talk to Hassan no more. Hassan later tells his dad, Ali, everything that happen that day of the tournament and Ali decides to leave with his son and Baba doesn't understand why. He tried to convince Ali and Hassan to stay but they still leave. Later the Russians come to Afghanistan and Baba and Amir have to leave to America. Life is really hard for them but they still manage to live over there. Amir meets this girl who he falls in love with and is now engage with her.
My favorite character was Hassan, he is the best friend anyone will like to have. He is a lil boy who has a big heart to forgive Amir after everything that happen. Hassan was just an innocent lil boy who all he wanted was for Amir to showed him he cared and one day called him his friend. Amir just makes me so mad, but this book is so good that confuses me because he also had many reasons to act that way and all he wanted was his dads love. And it wasn't his fault that his dad will always act like he was nothing like he wanted him to be like Hassan.
We are still not done wit the book but I hope it has a good ending. (-:

The Supremacy Clause

1.According to Thomas Jefferson, "not a foot of land will be taken from the Indians without their consent". This quote was not kept because the president of the United States, Andrew Jackson was a strong supporter of the Removal Act. Gold has been discovered in the lands. Jackson sent federal troops and forced the removal of the Cherokee's from their homes and lands.

2.The Cherokees became acculturated to the European's culture because after being force to leave their lush huntind and farming lands, they had no option then to follow the whites people rules. They acculturated, built schools, and many became Christians.

3.By 1932 "Indian tribes's had lost ninety million acres of reservation land, that was two-thirds of all the land they had reserved through treaties and other laws". The Dawes Severalty Act had to do much with this loss, beacuse if any land left from the the resrvations it would be taken away and be declared as "surplus land" and could be sold to the whites. Also because many of the Indians land was poor and not good for farming, they were not interested in farming because they did not have the money to start farms or to develop cattle ranches in their lands.

4.Chief Joseph engage in a battle with th U.S army beacuse after his people being move and then remove because they had discovered gold in the land, he just didn't agree with this so he "outsmarted the government soldier's over and over again with his superior military tactics (strategies)." Chief Joseph was forced to surrender after leading the federal troops and a 1,300 mile chase.

5.The Supremacy Clause stated that none of the Indians land would be taken away from them with out their consent, it was not respected and this law was not kept because the whites, and President Andrew Jackson choose to ignore the courts decisions and everything from the Indians was taken away, and they were forced to move.

Obama's Speech: My Education, My Speech

1.It Really touch me when President Obama talked about his life and to him every one is the same we are no different than any other human being in this world. We all have to struggle in life we were not born perfect or intelligent or ready to know everything, we were born to learn to struggle to learn from our many mistakes that we have made in our life's. "You can't let your failures define you, you have to let them teach you", this is so true he just has the perfect words to say to encourage me and other student succeed in life and not quit in our education. Also "Some of the most successful people in the world have struggle the hardest",I really like this phrase because that's what you have to do struggle to be someone important to be proud of your self.

2.One of Obama's most important word was "dedicate" this means that all of us students should commmit to our education commit to our self. Another word was "determine" this word means alot to me because one of Obama's good phrase's was "No one’s written your destiny for you. Here in America, you write your own destiny. You make your own future". This word "succeed" is also a word that should touch every one because that is what we have to do succeed in this life for us, for our kids, and for our country.

3.Yes, he is I just read his speech and it really touch my heart because he made me feel that I can finish school and be proud of my self. The truth is that I've been thinking of quitting school, I feel like I'm never going to be done. It's funny because I passed the CAHSEE test on my first tried now that makes me happy because I know that you have to pass that test in order to graduate, other than that I need not that many credits and my government and economics book as well as my senior portfolio and presentation to finish but is just I get really lazy and don't do it. I really want to get my high school diploma and move on to college and after reading Obama's speech i have decided to NOT quit school and continue wit my high school and and hopefully go to college by next year 2010.

4.It means that I was not born with a good or bad destiny, I was born to make my destiny and not let no one decide my destiny. This phrase means alot to me because this gives me strength to take out the best of me and show every one who thought that because me having a baby at a young age and dropping out of school and to add to that i don't only have one beautiful baby I have two and proud of it, was not going to take no where I'm going to show them that their words don't mean nothing to me I make my destiny how I want it to be it's up to me if I give my kids a good or bad future.

5.I would let him know that by me wanting to be coroner would help in our future our family member who have lost a loved one for any reasons and most of them don't know the cause of it and people just don't give them answers, me as my future my career would loved to help them.

Characterization

Dot will be considered a subordinate character because even though Cupcake had never found a white girl smooth enough to replace her she knew as a hustler she was sooner or later she will find another way.

Cupcake can be considered a dynamic character in this memoir because she has change her way of living and every chapter her attitude and actions continue to be more bad and is getting to a point were something can happen that she will regret later.

Cupcake's dad Mr.Burns can be considered a static character because through out the memoir we have learn that he only calls her when she gets her money which means he needs money from her.

Cupcake's newest conflict

Cupcake is now living with her dad and they are both slanging drugs. Sam the dad's girlfriend who is also a prostitute just moved in with them. The house they are living in is just a mess nothing but drug dealing and prostitutes everywhere. I think Cupcake should get out of this house before its to late and she could become a prostitute or something worse can happen such as some one getting killed or even her self.

Sex Class- STD's

1.Std's are asymptomatic because it shows no signs of the infection.

2.There are four resons teens are at a higher risk of catching std's. Being sexually active, having more than one partner, having a sexual partner who has had multiple sexual partners, and using alcohol or drugs.

3.I think is a higher risk on teenagers because once you go in to puberty alot of teens want to start having sex without alot of different boys or girls.

4.Females have a higher risk of getting infected because they have a larger opening area than males do. Also because once the std in in our body it absorbs the infection like a sponge. Females also receive a larger volume of infected body fluid than males do. Cells of the cervix for tennage females are more at risk of catching the infection.

5.Using condoms, getting tested regularly, getting tested together, and stay with one partnerat a time.

''Oficial Laws Against Women in Iran"

I think the most repressive law in Iran is "Iranian women are not free to choose or control various aspects of their lives." Article 300 of the Penal Code. Women are not allowed to do anything without their husbands permission. Most of the laws in Iran are against women. If this laws were instituted in the United States it will be a big change for all of us girls and women's. It will be really hard for us to adjust to a new change of life. First of all it will be really hard for me to know that I am being control by a man and ask for permission all times. I hope nothing like this will ever happen in the U.S I really don't know what my life and my families will be like.

Lampreys Fishes

Lampreys are jawless fishes.
1.What areas they live?Sea Lamprey are found throughout the Great Lakes and clear, cold streams in the region(between Lake Ontario and Lake Erie).

2.What do they eat? How they eat?lampreys eat small critter like worms and organisms.Lamprey use their disc-shaped mouth, full of teeth, to bit onto fish. They make holes in the sides of their victims and feed on blood and body fluids. They can stay attached for hours, days, or even weeks on one fish. Large fish will most likely survive a lamprey attack with just a circular scar left on the fish's side. Small fish may die immediately from the attack or will die from an infection from the lamprey attach.

3.How they breathe? Fish are generally scaled and respire by passing water over gills.

4.How they reproduce? Lampreys begin life as burrowing, freshwater larvae (ammocoetes). At this stage, they are toothless, have rudimentary eyes, and feed on microorganisms. After several years, they transform into adults and typically move into the sea to begin a parasitic life, attaching to a fish by their mouths and feeding on the blood and tissues of the host. To reproduce, lampreys return to freshwater, build a nest, then spawn (lay their eggs) and die.
